I don't hate Meltzer because I appreciate his love of wrestling. But hearing him discuss ratings and demos literally saps all the life out of me. It honestly sounds like he does it to legitimize himself. And as we've discussed (and he's acknowledged), the promoters will use the ratings to tell whatever story they wish. It's basically "juking the stats."
He wants to add the "business" element to his journalistic pursuits. And much like wrestling fans, he just sounds like a blithering moron when he talks about the numbers. Moreover, just like the promoters, he uses them to tell the story he wants.
We'd all be better off looking at the numbers at a distance and talking about what's happening on-screen, as fans of most television do.
