Buddy Matthews is just spot, spot, spot. Maybe he’s changed radically, but last I saw him was a Rumble pre-show match where KENTA was easily the guy who stood out. I think Matthews would suit New Japan and be a good underneath guy there they could elevate if they become desperate for gaijin because Ospreay and White leave.
In the US scene he best fits ROH and/or Impact, I think.

I believe the match you're thinking of was a cruiserweight 4-way, so yeah that was always gonna be a spot fest.
