Lol, Meltzer is really defensive about the Cody story. He’s acting like it’s a foregone conclusion he signs with AEW. I wonder if TK thought the same thing leading to this potential mess?

Would be kind of funny if Cody played being a free agent for a while and did work in ROH, New Japan, maybe Impact Wrestling and handing over the Dusty Rhodes Classic trophy in NXT, all as part of his next Rhodes to the Top story.

Money and happiness are the two biggest factors when it comes to people making these sorts of career decisions. It’s pretty easy to see how Cody might be disenchanted with his place in the company with a bunch of other guys being signed and the creative opening up the whole company to the tools Cody would use to get himself over.

Don’t get me wrong, he probably does re-sign with AEW. But then schadenfreude if he doesn’t is going to be pretty damn amazing. And imagine if Mox goes too. Or if AEW loses access to New Japan and Danielson leaves as well.
