You ever hear the story about how the rumble came to be? Patterson came up with the idea and presented it to the "genius" Vince who said it was a stupid idea. It was only when one of the network heads got to hear of it (Dick Ebersol) he liked the idea and the concept of the countdown with people wanting to see who was coming in next kept people watching.
