Welcome to about 5 years ago. Fans say that and they want to see themselves as honest, but the truth is they have really fucked up ideas about what works and doesn’t work. They still have markish responses to the product that they think they are smarter than, and they react as contrarians to a lot of shit.

It doesn’t absolve WWE if their more egregious shit. They’re largely responsible for this climate, where voices that just want to enjoy wrestling are drowned out by people who think that their opinions are good or developed enough to warrant being heard. They ran off normal fans. But fans are not these unbiased arbiters of quality either. They will choose Zack Ryder over John Cena like it’s a good idea. They will lie about how over something is or isn’t. They want a product for their obsessive ego. You kind of have to move past that fan and the people in that circle who empower these really zonkers dispositions.
