Someone likes everyone dude. They can't keep these people forever. How are they supposed to make time for new people and pushes if they have to keep others on board because someone liked them. Come on man.
And lets be real. It's a rare occasion when they release someone that's active and even remotely popular. That's why Braun getting canned caught so many people off guard because it's not normal for WWE to do that. Everyone else on that list either isn't very active or isn't that over with the fans. You can argue Black, because he definitely is popular and was coming back, but he hasn't really been active in like a year or whatever. Murphy and Riot aren't popping crowds.
