For sure.

Not only was he on track to be a potential future big star for WWE, he also was on track to be one of the rare big successes from Tough Enough and a legit home grown big star on the men's side developed in NXT.

NXT's done a good job developing home grown stars on their women's side but have done poorly when it comes to home grown stars on their men's side. All of their notable big stars from NXT since its existence either came from FCW or from the indies instead.

Braun Strowman is probably the only real notable big home grown male star developed from NXT but his time there was just him being the muscle for Bray's group and someone who hit their ceiling hard on the main roster for success.
