I stand by my theory that Marty is the smart member of the Elite, in that he actually gets wrestling more than the rest of them. He likely saw what was going on in AEW and was like "maybe it's not in my best interests."
On the flip side, he's also staying in a company that's at its coldest point in a long time. Its why he also started working for NWA and keeping the NJPW door open for himself just to maintain his outside exposure.

Yeah, right now he's in a very great position to vastly improve his value both in and outside the ring especially if this new booking job ends up being successful.

Even if his new booking role doesn't turn around ROH, he's still going to be a highly sought after talent on the market when it comes to his next deal. ROH currently having the NJPW deal and AEW not having one is a huge advantage for ROH.
