Flair can't stop people from using the term but he has some legal power when it comes to others making money off of it like WWE has done with Becky's "The Man" shirts.

That seems to be where this dispute revolves around since he is claiming WWE is trying to get around having to pay him any royalties from those shirts. Since they refuse to listen to him, he's now trying to get legal ownership of "The Man" by using his other trademark as the basis.

If he didn't have the "To be The Man" trademark, this would be similar to the Carlton dance ownership dispute and his chances of winning would be almost zero.
