Two years before he died, Misawa wrote a letter intended to be sent, in case he died in the ring, to his last opponent. It says something like:

''I'm sure you trusted me, and were doing your best, and I betrayed that trust. I'm really sorry.
Still, I want you to continue wrestling. It may be painful, but I want you to continue.''

Akitoshi Saito decided to keep going after getting this letter, and to this day he packs it in his bag for every show on every tour.
