Part of free speech is being able to walk away from conversations you don't want to participate in too. I may not be able to tell someone what to think or say, but they can't force me to actively listen to them either.

I think the suggestion that people think they are right because they are offended is a non-sequitur. People are often offended when you ignore evidence and the like. It's a dismissal of someone because they don't like something along with not agreeing with it. That's too easy.
