I remember reading that Heyman did want Punk to win but Vince wanted Lashley to win, like you said but I also remember reading that Vince wanted Lashley to have a fifteen or twenty minute celebration in the ring after he won the title but Heyman was dead against it. Heyman also warned Vince and told him that the fans would throw it back in his face if that happened but Vince didn't listen to him and he went ahead with his plans anyway.

After the event, Vince wasn't happy at all with the reception the event got from fans so he blamed Heyman for December To Dismember's failure and the fan's reaction to Lashley's title celebration, so Heyman walked out of the company but remained under contract until Vince fired him.
