lol Hate to pile on here, Fan. You know that didn't answer my question though.
The country is the point where you narrow it down to what you care about. You say only murders in America matter to you because they're more likely to effect you (Which isn't true. But that's a different subject.)
My question is, if that's the case, why stop narrowing it down? If someone was like "I don't care about murders outside of my street?" would you find that silly? If you would, why? They live on that street and that's more likely to impact them than some guy getting murdered on the next street over. It you wouldn't find that silly, then why don't you agree with that guy and only care about murders on your street?
