To be fair a bit, NJPW runs way fewer shows and Okada still shows up a lot more than Lesnar even if its not title matches. Okada would probably fall apart after a couple months if he kept the puro style and had to work Punk's insane schedule as champ.
Similar to Taker's streak, WWE pretty much lucked into Lesnar being this close to breaking Punk's record. Probably a big reason why its lasted soo long because WWE wasn't aware or they would have made it obvious his lengthy reign was out of petty reasons.
