Yeah like i said you gotta be a real dork to say theyre different. Double Dragon and Beyonetta are the same genre unless youre nit picky. Theyre just different takes. Would be like saying crash bandicoot is a dif genre than mario due to a distinct change in approach despite the core mechanic remaining the same.

Defeat enemies. Progress to next screen. Hit enemies till they die. Repeat.

Needing intricate combos a genre does not make. Would be like saying mk1 and mk3 are different genres.

Nit picky and arbitrary.

HOWEVER if the point is conceded that it does make a dif genre then yes new GoW is not a hack and slash but in fact a beat em up. But its a rose by any other name.

Also would make YAKUZA a hack a slash which just sounds weird and protest on principle
