* Triple H genuinely great in the build, it seems. What comes across in this time is how verbal he was. That added to his character and made him stand out. He was a villain who would talk a lot of shit in a roundabout way -- and it would equate to great heat! He's telling The Rock all the ways he'll take a victory and The Rock is just like "Bring it" over and over again, because The Rock -- great talker we remember him being -- is all about walking the walk.
* Triple H and Shawn Michaels not discussing the match and JR catching that. Triple H threatening Shawn Michaels' future if he does not call the match "as it should be called." Fuck, this is brilliant. Triple H alluding to it being called in his favor, but totally acting like a bad-ass that wants it down the middle all at the same time. The build for this is genuinely brilliant.
* Triple H sending Vince, Shane and Stephanie to the back because this is between him and The Rock and that he wants to beat The Rock in front of the "people." This dude is so sleazy, it's great. I used to think that Owen Hart or Brian Pillman could be in this position if they were still alive and active in this point in time -- and while I think they could be a different story of heel -- this is definitely Triple H as Triple H.
* Relating this to the modern day, I can't help but think this is the sort of heel that a Seth Rollins or Kevin Owens should have been as champion. Sending Triple H to the back and wanting to prove that they want to get this done on their own -- even if it's bullshit. Everyone is subservient these days. Triple H was allowed to have brass balls -- even if they were detachable. Vince McMahon showing great ass on PPV by letting himself get sent away. I couldn't see Daddy H doing that.
