The Padres had 7 openings on their 40 man roster and were expected to go ham with drafting dudes like last year and even they only took 1 player.

Aside from the first pick almost none of the players who were "hotly tipped" to get picked went anywhere.

They raised the cost of each pick from $50k to $100k but I don't think that had much to do with it.
