I thought the gimmick change was 100% in conjunction with the main roster jump.

Not necessarily. I ranted before about how WWE squandered that push. They even got the win over New Age Outlaws in something similar to how Dogg and Ass got their first win over LoD... and nothing came of it. They were back off tv because who the hell knows, and getting even a "fluke" win over a veterain team on a PPV led to nothing afterwards.

That's when they were screwed.
