Even then, a lot of games don't run at 30fps at 4k on a 980ti.

I think we need to see what these new AMD GPUs do when the desktop parts are out. If they're not at least double the power at every price point, then it's only going to be indie 2D games running at 4k.

I think they've got to be clearly hoping that people sitting there with 4k TVs are thinking "Well, what can I do with this resolution?" because it's only really heavily compressed Netflix and a couple of UHD players right now, or that releasing this will make those on the fence about bothering to get a 4k TV get one. They were half-arsed with 3D (mostly because it was a bollocks tech, but still), they might try and go all in with this. Since Kaz is at the top of all Sony instead of just games now, this could be his trojan horse for 4k. I just don't see how it makes sense any other way.
