All told, it wasn't exactly a confidence builder to have THAT be the first game after signing his 4-year extension. In fairness, there really doesn't seem to be another hotshot "savior" QB in the college ranks on the horizon, and their current backup (Ryan Nassib) is straight up trash. Eli probably is the best option for them in the next few years.
Unfortunately the team still needs a lot of work. I had the Giants penciled in for 7 or 8 wins this year and definitely didn't see a win in Dallas coming, so 7 or 8 is still entirely doable with their schedule. But it clearly won't be enough for the playoffs. I'll never outright root for a loss, but fuck...bottoming out at 4-12 or some shit might be better long-term than getting 7 or 8 wins and having Reese think "okay that's not terrible, just need to add a piece or two."
