Pro Wrestling Illustrated, one of the longest running pro wrestling magazines, announced this week that the publication is no longer recognizing the TNA World Championship as a World Title. The magazine announced going forward it will only be recognizing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as a World Title.
|
Official reason was related to the WWE being undisputed as the biggest promotion in the world, TNA dropping in tv status because of ROH and Lucha Underground, and them finally getting around to officially declaring which belt should be seen as the top belt in the US and/or World.

At last night's WWE Raw, former United States champion Cesaro answered the John Cena United States Championship open challenge. The two went back and forth for nearly 20 minutes, before Kevin Owens eventually ran in and broke up a Cesaro Sharpshooter for a DQ.
During the match, however, you may have noticed that the screen went black for a short period during an exciting spot.
While Cesaro gave John Cena several European uppercuts, the Swiss followed up by flipping the champion the bird. Either the WWE production team or the USA Network decided to censor the situation by simply blacking the screen out.

According to PWI, RAW has lost around 2.5 million viewers since 2012 or roughly when the 3rd hour era began. Been losing around 300-500k per year since the end of the Attitude Era with the past few years doubling that viewer loss. Observer had hinted a while ago that the WWE was on pace to reach niche status for viewers within a few years.

There's a feeling backstage in TNA that the buzz the company has received in the past week is better than the buzz they've received in the past year and they are happy with that, regardless of what happens with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling.
Regarding Jarrett's return and the apparent working relationship between TNA and GFW, there's a feeling among some in TNA that Jarrett wouldn't be there and wouldn't have won at Slammiversary if everything was right with the company.

During the appearance, Ziggler commented, "I'm thinking about it right now. I had a request for an upcoming contract that would end a few months from now, maybe two or three months from now, and they requested back what they would like, I countered another offer and we're waiting to finalize some things. I love WWE and I can't picture myself wrestling somewhere else but it's also becoming now where that Wednesday and Thursday, I can't just do that and get some outside live events for comedy and different movie and television options, which would only be to promote myself as a WWE superstar, to make myself a bigger star so I can advance more in WWE. So if I can't find that happy medium, I might have to go away for a little bit. What I wanna do is make myself a bigger asset to WWE. If it involves leaving, that would crush me but it might."
The comments would also be at odds with a statement made over the weekend to The Boston Herald about signing a new deal.
