The closest angle I can remember to that was when Stevie Ray had J Biggs (Clarence Mason) as his lawyer suing Booker T. Somehow the end result was Booker T becoming just "Booker", no longer being allowed to use the Harlem Heat theme, and having to change his finishing moves.
Hard to believe he won the World Title just a few months later.
