Of the 5 players the Giants signed yesterday, all of them project to be backups. All received multi-year deals for a fair bit of guaranteed money.
Vereen will play a big role in the offense, but everyone else? I don't know. Dwayne Harris is a good special teams but the other three just seem to be depth and nothing else...the lineman they got (Marshall Newhouse) got benched by Green Bay for sucking a couple years ago and the consensus in Cincy is that he wasn't very good either.
Not sure what Reese is doing. He needed to have a good draft anyway because it's been proven throughout history that free agent spending sprees rarely amount to much in the NFL, but in this case it seems like he's spending good money on guys who won't have much of an impact on the field just for the sake of spending money. Clearly he sees something in them but it's still a head scratcher.
