I was thinking watching that match though: I wouldn't be opposed to seeing The Authority put Dolph Ziggler in an Intercontinental Title match at Survivor Series to soften him up. Use a loophole where he is obligated to defend the title or something. Ziggler and Axel can have a fifteen-minute match where Stephanie screws Dolph out of the title Montreal-style, and Axel gets a second run with the IC Title as Dolph has more reason to bring the fire in the main event.

Then I realised that would all work better with Tyson Kidd.
Whilst reading this the thought of having William Regal be a manager for Axel crossed my mind. Regal is now doing less on screen with NXT and is a fantastic mic worker.

I then had the idea that Christian could manage him. I've liked the idea of the former multi-time Tag Team Champion taking a young tag team under his wing, though.

The I realised that they already put Axel with the greatest manager alive today, and tried him in a tag team and neither really worked out.

Maybe he really is a lost cause.
