Pokemon is an age appropriate game for eight years olds... yeah I play video games and "the masses" view that as unacceptable, but as we know they can be a positive medium of entertainment and enrichment just like books and movies can be. Pokemon just seems silly to me, like you can say Mario and Yoshi are just as childish but those aren't alienating to people because they're recognized as icons. Pokemon is some obscure thing that only kids really know about, their parents know nothing about it, and it seems like it's made for and played by little kids. It's a shame too cause the game mechanics are actually pretty good, Shin Megami Tensei sort of ran with a similar concept and I liked it a lot.
