Are people actually going to do this?

Is Darren Young going to have this hanging over his head for his entire career now? Is "Because he's gay" going to be this day and age's "Because he married the bosses daughter"?

I really don't think Darren Young is winning because he's gay. I think he's winning because The Prime Time Players are getting a face push now. The fans reacted positively to Darren's news and the WWE saw that as a good opportunity to turn The Prime Time Players face and give them a bit of a run.

Afterall, it has been said that Vince wants to work on the tag division, so a tag team member defeating another tag team member isn't going to happen because the winner is gay.

If people want to go down the "Because he's gay" route, then I guess you can say that Daniel Bryan is only where he is today because he choked Justin Roberts with a tie. There was a lot of positive support for Bryan from the fans when he was released, the WWE saw that as a good opportunity to have him return as a face and from there, his career just kept going up and up.

If he didn't choke Roberts with a tie, who knows where he would be right now. He'd probably be having his first face run right now, after being a heel since his debut with The Nexus.
