Dice-K wasn't very good in his debut. But as long as he can eat some innings that's all they really need him for.
Would have been interested in seeing Jacob deGrom since he's Rule 5 eligible and needs to be added to the 40-man roster this offseason anyway, but I can see why they wouldn't bother at this point. There will be spots open soon enough.
The Mets' 40 man is maxed out as is, and as best I can tell their only way to free up more room would be to transfer Hefner and Mejia to the 60 day DL since their will pitch again this year anyway. I imagine they'll do that to call up Matt den Dekker and probably some random veteran guy who had a good year in the minors.
