They couldn't suspend the game because of a rule that states games can't be suspended if two teams aren't scheduled to play again the rest of the season.  If they weren't able to complete the game tonight, the score would have reverted to the end of the last full inning, wiping out the Royals' 3 runs for a 2-1 Cardinals win.  That rule is beyond terrible.

 Is this some sort of new or recent rule?
Should have kept the previous thing of taking whatever convenient off day both teams shared as the day to finish the game.
