Well, not really but I guess his looks play a part.

I still think it's the age thing though because even with a shaved head and a massive beard, Daniel Bryan & AJ was still believeable and they didn't have a 17 year age gap between them. Only a 6 year gap.

Maybe they didn't have anything for Bully Ray so they just stuck him in that angle. Probably wanted to stop him from leaving the company too.
