Microsoft currently rumored to be working on a Xbox brand set-top media device.
The device would arrive around the same time as the rumored launch of the next Xbox console with both expected to be released during late 2013.
According to the Verge, the TV set-top box would work similar to an Apple TV device with the focus primarily on media and "casual" games. The device itself would be running off a modified version of Windows 8.
In terms of architecture, it would be part of a planned "core" architecture with basis revolving around the next Xbox console. The architecture would also be very scalable in order for the Xbox brand to expand to a wider variety of devices during the next generation.
