A couple of Bioware related news as the company teases more Mass Effect 3 DLC is on its way, a new universe for future Mass Effect games is possible, and the co-founders are leaving the studio next month.
The general managers from Bioware's Edmonton and Montreal studios, Aaryn Flynn, reveals the company has more plans in store for Mass Effect 3 with more DLC and a possible new setting for the series. He teased the new universe setting could be done for the next Mass Effect game which is currently being developed from the ground-up for next gen systems.
Quote:
First, BioWare said there are more single-player stories to tell within Mass Effect 3, starting with the “Omega” downloadable content in the fall. Additionally, there are plans for “another full game.”
“He and his leads are putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology,” said Flynn.

Bioware also confirmed the co-founders of the studio will be retiring next month from the company with EA given the retirement notices in April of this year. the actual notice given in April to Electronic Arts. Co-founder Ray Muzyka made the 6 month request in order to give Bioware enough time to adjust to a new leadership direction during the transitional period.
While Muzyka's farewell letter was more upbeat about him returning to the industry after a short break, the other co-founder Greg Zeschuk will not. Zeschuk stated he felt it was more beneficial to himself and the company to leave now since his passion for game development was gone while he wanted to spend more time with his family than his job previous allowed.
Quote:
"I now desire to take on a brand new entrepreneurial challenge," said Muzyka. "I believe strongly in the power of free enterprise to enable sustainable change, so my next ‘chapter’ will likely focus on an entirely new industry, something exciting, different and frankly downright scary – investing in and mentoring new entrepreneurs, and more specifically, the field of social/impact investing."
Zeschuk's letter was much more somber, and sounded akin to a man defeated by his work load.
"This decision isn’t without significant pain and regret, but it’s also something I know I need to do, for myself and my family," said Zeschuk. "I’ve reached an unexpected point in my life where I no longer have the passion that I once did for the company, for the games, and for the challenge of creation. For the people I have had the privilege of working with, however, my passion burns as brightly as it did the day we started."
