Electronic Arts thinks gaming will go entirely digital in the near future so they announce they are in the process of planning to do the same with all EA developed and published games to only have digital releases once they are ready.
While it wasn't specifically stated, its assumed the games would only be available on Origin or a select number of EA approved digital providers.
EA could also have been influenced by a recent report from the NPD which stated roughly a third of all gamers now only purchase digital copies of games while the overall spending in the retail market has declined so far since the same period last year.
Quote:
"Retail is a great channel for us. We have great relationships with our partners there. At the same time, the ultimate relationship is the connection that we have with the gamer. If the gamer wants to get the game through a digital download and that's the best way for them to get it, that's what we're going to do."

Daily Recap:
1) According to European Union's Court, consumers have the right to re-sell digital games while game makers can no longer imply in EULA terms that you only own are leased the rights to play the game and not the actual software itself. The ruling however doesn't require current digital distribution providers to offer a trade-in program if they don't want to though.

2) A current rumor semi-confirmed by Gamestop states a Knights of the Old Republic Collection set will be released later this month as a PC exclusive, contains KOTOR 1 & 2, and a retail price of $20.
