Bethesda Softworks announces they are working with ZeniMax Online on the development of an MMO version for Elder Scrolls to be named Elder Scrolls Online.

Bethesda also announced the official debut and more details won't occur until the June issue of Game Informer is released.

The project had been in the works for years but delayed recently when Bethesda sued Mojang over the ownership of the "Scrolls" name which they eventually won.

According to the head of the development team the goal is to make the game the best MMO ever and to tie in the entire Elder Scrolls universe.

Quote:
“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted…It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”
Probably little to no chance of the game having a console release considering the lack of MMO games on consoles and Sony along with Mircosoft have strict rules involving free-to-play or the requirements needed to constantly patch and provide content for a MMO game.
