Some info and details were recently announced for Alan Wake's American Nightmare with the first being a Horde-like mode as a new feature and the other being the game's length being shorter than the first game.

The Horde-like mode is being called "Fight 'til Dawn" mode with the initial setup including just a handgun and flashlight but expands to include other weapons and gadgets as the match progresses. Unlike other horde modes being based on just waves or a certain number of enemies, Alan Wake's version is based on an in-game clock which displays the current time of the night.

Quote:
Players start armed with a flashlight and a handgun and have to run around the massive maps looking for new weapons, more ammo and the occasional, healing lamp post. The object is to last till the sun rises. The many, varied enemies come in waves walking from the shadows, slowly, quietly surrounding you as you desperately fight and flee to survive.
The game's overall length was also revealed being about 4 to 5 hours on average with a slight increase if the player completes the optional side missions and content for the story mode.

Quote:
Oskari Hakkinen, head of franchise development at Remedy, told Gametrailers, ”The story mode is, it’s kind of hard to put a time on it, but I’m guessing for the average player, [it's] something between four and five hours, maybe a little bit more depending how much you explore the optional story content.”
The game is set for a February 15 release date on Xbox Live Arcade and will be the first game deal for the 2012 Xbox House Party promotion.
