Your first statement is a valid point. I play with friends every oppurtunity I can. If there truly is that much dlc on the way, then it is doubtful that everyone in your group of friends will have all the same maps. In fact it's unlikely that even two of you will. Unless you coordinate with friends what you are all buying.
The fact that COD is a yearly title doesn't affect the value, considering unlike most series, a new sequel does not mean people will stop playing the previous game. It is still just as easy to find games in MW1 and even World at War, as it is in more recent entries.
