While THQ was disappointed with the sales and reception of Homefront and even dropped the original developers for the game, the company announced today the series still has a future after announcing Crytek as the developers for the sequel.

The Nottingham branch of Crytek was chosen as the development team with the actual development team picked from the Far Cry series.

Quote:
Cevat Yerli, Founder, CEO and President of Crytek had this to say about the venture:

“We believe that bringing our level of quality, creativity and production values to the next Homefront title, creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game. It’s really important to us that THQ has the faith in giving us a lot of creative freedom over one of its most important properties to allow us to bring the Homefront world to life in a new and innovative way.”
As of now THQ has the game scheduled for a 2013/2014 release date on both the PC and unnamed console platforms.

Quick News Round-Up:
1) Update on Sony forcing US/Canada PSN users the choice of not using the PSN network or waiving their right to sue with a class action lawsuit as new details of an opt-out clause existing in the terms. The only catch is the opt-out clause has a countdown starting once the terms are agreed and ends after 30 days but also requires a written letter sent to the company and must reach them before the 30 days regardless of the time stamp.

2) Ubisoft reveals the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed Revelations will be also getting the original Assassin's Creed game for free on the same disc as both a bonus and for PS3 owners who didn't play the first game.

3) Team Ninja reveals the new Hero mode for their upcoming Ninja Gaiden III game with the main goal of having the game be a bit easier for new players while maintaining the same level of gameplay with the other difficulty modes. In Hero mode, the game will auto block and dodge attacks to give players less deaths but doesn't go as far as being a full "casual" mode nor is the gameplay style itself changed or made easier with the mode.
