Take-Two's 2k studio considering dropping the MLB exclusive license in 2012 since its been more of a hassle than a benefit owning the license.

A big issue ended up being the loophole allowing the Big 3 to make a baseball game if they wanted which hurt 2k baseball sales on Sony systems. EA also had to worry about this with Madden but Microsoft and Sony ended their NFL series before the exclusive deal was done.

Their financial report for the 2009 MLB games (2k9, Front Manager, and The Bigs) ended up at a $130 million loss.

MLB was also a series 2k Sports was weak at creating (same with their NHL brand) and only bought the exclusive deal as a way to pay back EA for killing off their NFL game series.

2k Sports will only extend the deal if MLB can guarantee a bigger pay deal or exclusiveness but its also assumed EA won't bring back the MVP series regardless of the result.
