First game at the new stadium was awesome.
The team looked pretty anemic all around in the first half. They turned it around in the first half. The only thing I hate about seeing a game in person is that it's tough to analyze some aspects as well as you would on TV.
From what I could tell:
- Special teams coverage was pretty suspect all game long. In a related note, Matt Dodge blows.
- The run game was pretty poor. We racked up over 100+ combined between Bradshaw and Jacobs, but I feel it was just because they ended up with 30+ carries. I don't feel it was a real "threat." The offensive line seemed to have no push off the ball.
- The defense forced the Panthers into some favorable third down situations, and gave up the first on a handful. Definitely need to shore that up. Tough to say what kind of schemes were being called in those situations. Loved that the defense tightened up in the red zone. The pressure on the QB seemed to be better in the second half. I feel like there may have been some actual adjustments by the coaching staff, as opposed to last year with Bill Sheridan.
- Maybe it was rust, maybe weather, but some of Eli's passes were a bit off point. His INT's came off deflections from balls that could have been caught, but they definitely seemed to be less than ideal on the throw.
