OCTOBER 4, 2004 - MONDAY NIGHT RAW
"I'm ba-ack!" The crowd boos like mad as Eric Bischoff makes his way to the ring for the second time as Chairman of WWE. He congratulates the nine men who proved they were Elite on Friday night, and welcomes the SmackDown! stars to RAW tonight, where our main event is going to pit six of the Elite against each other in a huge tag match. He talks about how tremendous the matches between The Rock and Matt Hardy Version 2.0 have been and announces that in six days at No Mercy, they're going to tangle one more time for the gold!
The Divas are in action next in a triple-threat match pitting three of the top contenders to Mickie James' Women's Title against each other. This isn't officially a #1 contender match, but it will definitely go a long way toward determining one. Decent reaction for a pretty weak match. Molly Holly takes Jazz out of commission with a running dropkick in the corner, only to eat a flying knee to the face and a moonsault from Lita, who picks up the win.
Elite member Rico makes his first RAW appearance in over six months since being drafted to SmackDown! as he takes on La Resistance's Rene Dupree. Dupree doesn't look bad, but he's clearly outclassed as Rico takes him out with his trademark spinning kick.
Rico grabs a ringside microphone and issues a challenge for No Mercy against fellow Elite member Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Title. Hardy appears on the TitanTron preparing for tonight's main event, and he accepts!
After the events of the last couple of weeks, Kane has wound up on the hitlist of the Natural Born Ministry. Tonight, Sean O'Haire sics his rookie monster Damien on the Big Red Machine! This is the best match Kane has put on in quite some time, and Damien continues to prove that he is a tremendous hand in the ring. Eventually, Kane appears ready to pull off the minor upset until Kane's half-brother the Undertaker hangs him out across the top rope, allowing Damien to chokeslam him for the win. Undertaker seems to have gotten over his initial reticence to attack his brother, as he and Damien begin to put the boots to him. Suddenly, a large brawler hits the ring and helps Kane clear the ring of Damien and Undertaker. Who is this mystery man? And why is he helping Kane?
Lita picked up a big win earlier to put herself into contention for the Women's Title, a belt that is being defended next as Mickie James takes on the woman who won a ten-Diva battle royal last week, Trish Stratus! Decent match that the crowd loves. Mickie hits a big hip toss, but Trish fights back and lnds a big kick to set up Stratusfaction! There's a new Women's Champion, Stratusfaction guaranteed!
In six days, A-Train and Sean O'Haire will hope to settle their feud at No Mercy, as will Shelton Benjamin and Randy Orton. Tonight, both these feuds combine into a tag match. Train and O'Haire start the match and they go at it a good long while. Eventually, all combinations work their way into the ring at one point or another. Train hits a spinning neckbreaker on O'Haire, then hits the Derailer for the win! After the match, all four men brawl back up the ramp, ready for their big matches on Sunday.
Eddie Guerrero heads out to the ring for a promo. He said that last month, he challenged Christian to a match at Unforgiven, a match that had to be cancelled when Christian hurt himself in a ladder match that very night. Now that Christian's healthy, and now that both are Elite, Eddie feels like it's time to re-issue that challenge. Christian accepts, and it's on!
Two more No Mercy matches meet up in our next tag match as Rhyno and Rob Van Dam take on Canadian Violence in preparation for Sunday's World and United States Title matches. Rhyno and Benoit start the match, and just like in the previous contest, eventually everybody takes on everybody. Benoit charges RVD in the corner down the stretch but eats a big kick. RVD hops up top and lands a big flying cross-body to set up the Five-Star Frogsplash and the win!
Now it's Rey Mysterio's chance to head to the ring to issue a challenge. Rey's the only Elite superstar not involved in a match tonight, but he wants to make one for Sunday. Mysterio-Lesnar one more time at No Mercy! Lesnar appears on the TitanTron (sans Paul Heyman, who is relegated to SmackDown!) and accepts.
And now for our six-man main event pitting Eddie Guerrero, John Cena, and The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar, Christian, and Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy. Eddie Guerrero and Christian start the match, but it doesn't take long before all three heels are taking turns teeing off on Guerrero. However, once Eddie gets a hot tag to Cena, it's Jeff's turn to get isolated. Eventually, it degenerates into a series of quick tags and high spots ending with Eddie taking out Christian with a big kick, landing a legdrop, and hitting his frogsplash for the win as RAW goes off the air.
