FEW Shockwave - July 22, 2009
---
Cliff Compton entered to start the show, apparently for his first round match in the FEW Television Title tournament. As he paced in the ring, the crowd chanted "Wildcat", in hopes that Chris Harris would be his opponent. Instead, Val Venus' music hit and Compton smirked, apparently showing that he really didn't want to wrestle Harris. However, he made the mistake of taking the veteran Venus lightly, as Val came out hot right out of the gate. Still, Compton managed to persevere and hit the Cliff Hanger to advance in the tournament to the dismay of the crowd.
Chuck Palumbo had a tough task ahead of him next as he was assigned to wrestle the first-ever FEW champion D'Lo Brown in a tournament match. Another close bout throughout the early going. D'Lo eventually takes the advantage when Chuck Palumbo misses a clothesline. A bodyslam and swinging DDT by D'Lo left Palumbo laying on the mat. D'Lo climbed to the top turnbuckle and flew off, hitting the Lo Down. D'Lo advances in his quest to gain some more FEW gold.
Backstage, Elijah Burke trashes Thorn and vows to make him pay for his claim. Elijah decrees that he will give Thorn another title shot if he can defeat his REAL Wrestler mates, Jake Swagger and Zigg Nemeth, in a handicap match tonight.
In what was sure to be an exciting contest, Paul London met Colt Cabana next. "ROH" chants rang through the crowd as both men gave it their all with several series' of high-octane maneuvers. Loads of near falls as the crowd got really into it. London ascends for a 450 Splash...Cabana moves out of the way! London staggers to his feet having landed face first on the mat, Colt 45, Colt Cabana advances!
By process of elimination, our final first round contest pitted Chris Harris against Kenny Doane. Harris not only had his sights set on the FEW Television title, but he knew that if he won his next two matches and Cliff Compton won next week, he would be able to get his hands on him at the PPV in a semi-final match. Perhaps realizing just that, Compton made it a point to interfere. With Harris outside the ring and the referee admonishing Kenny inside the ring, Cliff rushed out and slammed Harris head-first into the steel steps! Kenny saw this and noticed the referee hadn't heard it as they were arguing. He jumps out of the ring, throws Harris in, climbs up top, Guillotine Leg Drop! Kenny Doane knocks off Chris Harris thanks to Cliff Compton! Cliff jumps back in and brutally attacks Chris Harris to the disgust of the crowd.
In our main event of the evening, Thorn certainly lived up to his promise as he took The REAL Wrestlers to the limit, flaunting his powerful offensive moves and offsetting the REAL Wrestlers' attempts at grounding him with submission holds. Seemingly bewildered by Thorn's dominance, Elijah Burke hopped up to the ring apron. Thorn hurled Jake Swagger through the ropes directly at Burke, senning Burke and Swagger crashing to the floor. This left Zigg Nemeth all alone to fall victim to the Crucifix Powerbomb. Thorn wins and earns himself a title shot!
