Absolutely agreed here, and not just because I'm a loyal subject in Jabba's court.

The circumstances are different (so before I get Jeritron telling me I'm a retard for equating this vicious psycho killer who deserves to rot in hell and never should have existed, hear me out), but this reminds me a lot of what Hollywood tried to do after 9/11.

Almost any major-studio release that was to come out in the last quarter of 2001 that was set in New York was delayed. The Spider-Man teaser trailer was removed from theaters so that they could remove a shot that had Spidey catching a helicopter in a web between the Towers.

What happened was horrific, and Chris Benoit's life will forever be tainted. However, we can't pretend he never existed. Chris Benoit was not an unperson. He was one of the biggest stars in the industry. Should he be glorified? Absolutely not! Remove his name from the DVD listings. Stop selling his merchandise.

But don't pretend that he never wrestled because of what happened. I can't imagine how much of an uproar if the NFL decided to just not acknowledge aspects of, say, the 1973 Pro Bowl. Yes, the man who won Player of the Game wound up murdering his wife and her lover, but the game still happened. Just like the Benoit/Michaels/HHH match at WrestleMania happened. As such, it needs to be included in any sort of "historical" reference to the event, including video releases.

This isn't about WWE making money off of the career of a murderer. This is basic common sense saying "Hey, let's not get any closer to being an Orwellian society than we already are."
