I could see his wife killing their son, then herself. He comes home to them dead, kills himself.

Or, the wife killed him and his son.

But I think that is really stretching it. And if he was hung, suffocated, anything that required physical force, are you telling me she overpowered him and smothered him? Or beat him and then hung him?
