I still can't believe they fucked up what we had there. The Vikings are not the same team. People liked the Vikings because they always had good recievers and a good offense. Whether it was Carter, Moss, Jake Reed, even Koren Robinson worked somewhat, but now the VIkings are boring and defensive minded. People don't want to see that in Minnesota, and the Metrodome is barely selling out now, if at all. People never cared that the Vikings didn't win a Super Bowl because they were fun to watch. Now, they won't win a SUper Bowl and are boring to watch.
It will take a people for people to realize that about Brad Johnson... he can't get us there... but a lot of fans think that a good offense meant we couldn't win, because "defense wins championships." They never consider that Daunte Culpepper, Randy Moss, with our defense as it is now would be FAR different than it was with Robert Tate and Greg Biekert on defense. Our defense is so good, even though we suck on offense and always give the ball back to the other team (which is a main argument against Culpepper, that turnovers tired out the defense -- well so do 3-and-outs) The only difference is... if we put up 21 points on the board, we can run the ball successfully.

But what you're thinking about is what I said on the MySpace Vikings group: Red McCombs ruined the old Vikings, and it will take a long time for us to get a new personality. From 92-2004 we were still in the Denny Green era. Our defense was shaping up, but we were imploding. Thanks to Red McCombs, we will have to sit through this shit for a few more years while the team struggles to get its personality back.
