RoXer 07-09-2009 07:02 AM

Tetro
Moon
Whatever Works
Funny People
Bruno

Basically, eveeything you posted.

I think In The Loop was already released also. I also want to hear more about the Sinatra movie that Scorsese is doing.

mitch_h 07-09-2009 01:24 PM

The White Ribbon - Michael Haneke film, won the Palme D'Or at Cannes this year.

thedamndest 07-09-2009 01:26 PM

The Road is one of the best books I've read all year. It's written by the same gentleman who wrote No Country for Old Men.

Jeritron 07-09-2009 01:38 PM

The author sounds great, but I saw the trailer for the movie and it looked pretty awful.

I guess we'll find out

thedamndest 07-09-2009 01:44 PM

I honestly don't know how well it will translate to screen. There's only two characters in the book and not that much dialogue.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-09-2009 01:45 PM

The Informant! - Matt Damon becomes a rat to take down the company he works for

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZR-YaikU_x4&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZR-YaikU_x4&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Supreme Olajuwon 07-09-2009 01:50 PM

The Invention of Lying - "A comedy set in a world where no one has ever lied, until a writer seizes the opportunity for personal gain." Looks like it could go either way, but the cast is phenomenal: Ricky Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill, Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Jeffrey Tambor, Christopher Guest, Jason Bateman, Patrick Stewart

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Oc79ho-PzeE&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Oc79ho-PzeE&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Supreme Olajuwon 07-09-2009 01:54 PM

Shutter Island - Scorsese and Leo so you know it's gonna be incredible, but also with Ben Kingsley and Mark Ruffalo

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HYVrHkYoY80&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HYVrHkYoY80&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

The Hurt Locker. Kathryn Bigelow knows how to hang with the boys in terms of directing.

Do not see Antichrist. You will see terrible things, with no purpose.

Don't say no one warned you.

Have you already seen it?
I've heard the performance in it are excellent.

Zeeboe 07-11-2009 02:43 PM

The Halloween sequel, Inglourious Basterds, Funny People, Big Fan, and Taking Woodstock all look pretty groovy. :y: I need to look more into The Road and AntiChrist. They look like they could be promising.

This. I've been hearing incredible things about Hurt Locker.

Jon Kano 07-11-2009 09:04 PM

Where The Wild Things Are and Inglorious Basterds is the only ones that springs to mind right now.

road doggy dogg 07-12-2009 01:09 AM

A bunch of those sound really good but since I am terrible with movies I'll probably end up not seeing anything mentioned in this thread.

Probably at the film festivals.

I saw the trailer when I went and saw The Brothers Bloom about a month and a half ago.

Now I'm not a big movie guy but those three movies you showed trailers for look really good. Especially Shutter Island.

Though I just can't stand Rick Gervais. Everything about him just pisses me off in a way. If the role in The Invention of Lying was played by someone else, in my opinion, it would be a much better film. But I think just this once, I'm going to look past Gervais and go see the film anyway.

thedamndest 07-17-2009 04:50 PM

I think Gervais is a pretty solid choice. I loved him in the Office and in Extras. I'm just glad Will Ferrell isn't in this.

ct2k 07-17-2009 07:49 PM

In the Loop is supposed the be brilliant, it was written by Armando Iannucci so I'd say that's likely to be accurate:y:

Jon Kano 07-17-2009 08:01 PM

Armando Iannucci.....fucking genius.

Friday/Saturday Night Armistice...Alan Partridge....Brass Eye....Day To Day News?....loved em all.

Cool King 07-18-2009 09:25 PM

Zombieland - Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) doesn't have fears. If he did, he'd kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, theyre about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.

Hardkore Kidd J 07-20-2009 05:15 PM

Final Destination 4, The Halloween Sequel, Funny People. That's all I can really think of at the moment.

Buzzkill 07-24-2009 03:54 PM

Going to see the Hurt Locker today. Will let allyall know how it is.

Triple A 07-26-2009 04:19 AM

Hurt Locker was a fucking awful, boring movie.

Made me angry. Wanted to walk out like 5 times.

Pointless piece of shit movie with horrible unlikeable/undeveloped characters.

Confused 07-26-2009 05:28 AM

Can't wait to see Inglorious Basterds and Shutter Island.

Also looking forward to Moon. Seen a few trailers and heard great things about it.

mitch_h 07-26-2009 12:20 PM

Some movies have been announced for the approaching festival season, my interest lies more in the talent involved than the actual stories themselves.

Enter the Void - New Gaspar Noe film.
Life During Wartime - Todd Solondz
Broken Embraces - Pedro Almodovar
Leaves of Grass. An Ivy League professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown, where his twin brother, a small-time pot grower, has concocted a scheme to take down a local drug lord. Edward Norton plays both twins.

Good News Gertie 07-26-2009 03:43 PM

(500) Days of Summer
Cold Souls

OssMan 01-23-2025 08:10 PM

I had to watch Broken Embraces for like 3 different classes a few years after this post... just saw the new "Almodovar" a couple days ago "the room next door"

"Extract" is kinda funny

Big Fan was good I think... where he follows his favorite nfl player into the ghetto. Yea

Destor 01-24-2025 09:49 AM

A Serious Man - One of the Ceons most underrated. Really really good flick

Antichrist - great body horror flick. Probably my favorite Lars Von Trier movie. At least top 3.

Bruno - completely unrewatchable but i pissed myself laughing the first time i saw it

Funny People - the beginning of the fall in Judd Apatow for me. Also its why Sandler wasnt in Inglorious Basterds and that always bums me out

Inglorious Basterds - my favorite Tarantino picture. One of my very favorite films.

Shutter Island - fine. Neither dicaprios nor Scorseses best.

Up- 2nd favorite pixar film only behind WallE.

(500) days of summer- really sweet film. I like it a ton. The female lead is lovely

Zombieland - the sequel is rubbish but the first one is a really fun outing. I love zombie films and at this time a zombie comedy was a real novel idea.

Final destination 4- the worst in the series. By a lot.

poopfromweiner dude 01-24-2025 01:53 PM

saw a lot/most of these movies

even humpday (I think it was ok)

OssMan 01-24-2025 03:26 PM

yea A Serious Man was good

Bruno I still quote a lot... "iPod U2 edition ever heard of it ?"

Agree 100p% with zombieland... saw the first one in theaters and it was fun, second one i just thought "why did they make this"

Up was huge when it came out

Destor 01-24-2025 09:53 PM

I watched the 2nd zombieland in the lead up to Halloween last year. I liked Zoey Deutch in it and that all the complements i have for it
