**Rate the Music: Week 18**

Seven days in sunny June...were long enough to bloom....

Well, more like eleven days of sunny June, but referencing the song was just too tempting. Welcome once again to the show. Or thread. Whatever. We're here to rate music and chew bubble gum! Last week we chewed on the delightful melody that is Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 64. After pondering the flavor, what did we end up spitting out? Jesus, that was an odd metaphor. Anyway, here are the results!

One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy 7) - 8.71
Aquatic Ambience (Donkey Kong Country) - 8.66
At Doom's Gate (Doom) - 8.375
Guile Stage Theme (Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo) - 8.25
Bloody Tears (Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest) - 7.85
Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog) - 7.72
Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 64) - 7.71
Fight Against Smithy (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) - 7.2
Halo (Halo: Combat Evolved) - 7.125
Spark Mandrill Stage (Mega Man X) - 7
Ozar Midrashim (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver) - 6.6
Breeze - In Monochrome Night (Silent Hill 3) - 6.25
Big Apple, 3AM (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Turtles in Time) - 6.16
Still Alive (Mirror's Edge) - 5.5
The Instinct (Killer Instinct) - 5.42
Heaven (The Impossible Game) - 4.16
The Jack Attack (You Don't Know Jack: Television) - 3.57

A well-above average score of 7.71 is nothing to sneeze at for Rainbow Road and it lands in a comfortable spot at number 7. Still, a Sega game holds superiority over this Nintendo tune. Hell, two Nintendo tunes now that I'm looking at it. Can Sega claim superiority one more time with our next bit of music? Let's go back to the days of the Genesis doing its best to outshine Nintendo with one of Sega's flagship franchises. It's Streets of Rage 2 coming at you with its introductory track, Go Straight!

Hmm, with a title like that, this probably isn't the best thing to pull out for this month. Oh, well. It's too late now. How does this funky jam treat your ears? Is it a fine piece to go along with beating people up? Is it a great showcase of what the Genesis can do? It does what Nintendon't after all. I leave it up to you. Until next week!

Kind of repetitive, but it's absolutely a snapshot of the times.

Great game. Memorable track. Wouldnt call it outstanding though. 6.

Was alright, I'll give it a 7

Ya know, I feel like this level music is one of the Rodney Dangerfields of the 16-bit era. So underrated, yet gets no respect. I say it's a classic well worthy of the 9 I gave it. Fight me.

Gave it a 10.

This one and Final Fight's first level song are my favorite ever beat-em-ups stage songs. Stage 1 of the TMNT Arcade game would round out my Top 3.
