**Rate the Music: Week 17**
Hello, June! Now that we've gotten rid of that pesky May, we can now return to our regularly scheduled programming. M-A-G Month has concluded and with last week's edition out of the way, we can get back to games that aren't so exclusive to yours truly. Speaking of last week, the final piece of music from M-A-G Month needs to be added to the list. "Ozar Midrashim" is highly regarded in the community of Legacy of Kain, but it comes down to your votes. Here are the standings....
One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy 7) - 8.71 Aquatic Ambience (Donkey Kong Country) - 8.66 At Doom's Gate (Doom) - 8.375 Guile Stage Theme (Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo) - 8.25 Bloody Tears (Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest) - 7.85 Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog) - 7.72 Fight Against Smithy (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) - 7.2 Halo (Halo: Combat Evolved) - 7.125 Spark Mandrill Stage (Mega Man X) - 7 Ozar Midrashim (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver) - 6.6 Breeze - In Monochrome Night (Silent Hill 3) - 6.25 Big Apple, 3AM (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Turtles in Time) - 6.16 Still Alive (Mirror's Edge) - 5.5 The Instinct (Killer Instinct) - 5.42 Heaven (The Impossible Game) - 4.16 The Jack Attack (You Don't Know Jack: Television) - 3.57 Now, a little part of me wanted to slap that sucker at the top with an incredible score of 20.0, letting it forever dominate the leaderboard from here until the end of time, but I was informed that technically I'm not allowed to do that so a 6.6 is what it's going to have sit with. That qualifies it to just barely make the top ten, but we all know how precarious that can be. One can only imagine how things will change with this next piece. I figure we go with a wider net this time around. Who's up for some good old multiplayer couch fun with the Nintendo 64 and one of its biggest titles? Let's go with Mario Kart 64 and one of its most famous tracks (both musical and physical) with Rainbow Road! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/K5xdue7GFcc?si=E1NGBhKZ-HzhCYVj" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> Through red shells and Chain Chomps, this music is with you the whole way. What do you say? Classic? A bore? I leave it up to you. Until next week! |
I like the version of this in Mario Kart 8 better, but this holds up really well.
I vote 8, it's great.
Gave it a 9.
As a video game song, its a great song overall and in terms of the Mario Kart series, this version of the Rainbow Road song is my favorite. |
Future versions are much better so a 7 is as high as i can go
Rainbow Road Wii da bess and Ganecube after . . . this is what we call a paver :y:
It's a pretty great song but it has bad associations with me of endlessly playing Rainbow Road with a kid I was babysitting.... was legit all she wanted to do.... heard the song way too much...
I'll still give it an 8 I guess
