a little early? It's about 8 years late buddy
|
He died 8 years ago tomorrow. That's why I made the tribute thread. Made the OP in a bit of a rush. Just add a video, match, or any funny moment with Eddie.
|
Never understood his popularity. Always found him extremely annoying.
|
One of the worst blade jobs I've seen during that match. Wasn't really much of a fan of his but did enjoy his 'lie cheat steal' gimmick.

Fuck off with the not a fan shit in a tribute thread.

He'll be back for the Rumble.

Would mark if Deadie returned at the Rumble.

Lol awesome |
While I don't have any ultra assinine, or negative things to say about Eddie. The only thing I remember about him was him hugging Benoit to end Wrestlemania. Great moment. I know both of them worked their asses off to get there.
Okay as I type this I remember the stable they had, when they came to WWE. Him Benoit, Malenko....were they the scoundrels? |
In my opinion, Eddie Guerrero is a lot like Shawn Michaels in that his 2nd run in WWE not only "saved" his legacy from being "great worker that let his demons get the best of him" to a beloved icon. His death was tragic and cemented him as one of those elite names to most long-term wrestling fans. Overall, Eddie's career was good to great matches. His last couple of years in WWE were special. I don't think it is slanderous to say that he is beloved to "hardcore wrestling fans" just like Shawn Michaels, Curt Hennig, etc. are but you'd be lucky if any casual fans or former fans could tell you anything about him off the top of their head because he wasn't ever at the level of a Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena, etc. There is nothing wrong with that as there are only a handful of people at that level. It is no different than with sports where casual fans only know the huge names/teams while "true" or "hardcore" fans know almost every good player and the small market teams as well as the large market teams.
Eddie Guerrero was an amazing pro wrestler and I'm glad that he was able to overcome his demons and get a tremendous run before his past caught up with his body finally. I recommend everyone reads the autobiography WWE released. |
Eddie was great, a hint of overrated (some people talk about him like he's in contention for "best ever") but that's what death does. He was still a top top talent, on par with guys like Jericho and so forth
|
CSL, in your opinion, who is "the best ever"?
|
What a silly question to ask during Nashvember.
|
I enjoyed his WCW days when Mysterio was tolerable and not anywhere near a mic or developed storyline.
Gone are the days of them wrestling over someone spilling salsa in the back or Rey finding Eddie pooping in his bag and springboarding everywhere |

Eddie was good at getting heat from the crowd, I understand that his face run was deserved and all, but he was one of those that would of been fine as a heel forever.
|
he was an alright heel, was more one of those guys that people didn't really want to boo though, much better as the babyface
|
wow eight years now since he died

He could've carried a bowl of pudding to a 3 1/2 * match.
|
Him and Art Barr were one of the greatest tag teams in the 90s.
Their run in AAA Mexico was really awesome. I love that they got Tonya Harding to manage them if only for one night -This is from a AAA/CW USA show out of Vancouver Washington at the Clark Co. Unreal. Hard to believe it has been 8 years already, RIP.
|
I was never really a massive fan until Los Guerreros, but after that, Eddie was essentially always entertaining and doing top-notch work.

The dead people are there to rest. They can't get much resting done when they have some random guy standing on top of them taking pictures of their headstone. |

I remembering shedding a tear when Benoit had his speech on the tribute show, not so much now.

<font color=goldenrod>Court Bauer (WWE writer at the time of Eddie's death) recently said this in an interview:

Damn, I would have loved to have seen that. :(
It would have also made WrestleMania 22 worth ordering. |
