Ten bell salute for Pat Patterson was nice but that fake "Thank You Pat" chant was really cringy.
Didn't even sound like a fake crowd and more like 1-2 uninterested guys saying "Thank You Pat" over and over again. |
 at Paul Heymn pulling a Jericho with all the ratings talk during his promo about Jey Uso.
|
:| Bayley tapping out to Natty's Sharpshooter.
Match itself was whatever but before it even had a chance to do anything remotely interesting, it abruptly ended. Even having Bianca Belair at the commentary table was pretty much useless since she barely did anything during the match. |
Big E's new entrance theme is pretty cool.
|
Pat Patterson Tribute 6-Man Tag match was great.
That post-match stuff with Ziggy was very goofy though. |
Why is Sasha suddenly acting like a female version of Reigns Tribal Chief heel character during this interview?
That sitdown interview with her and Carmella sort of stunk. |
This thread is on fire yo.
|
Forgotten Sons minus Jaxson Ryker finally managed free themselves from the depths of catering.
They look a bit ridiculous with that getup as Corbin's bodyguards. Murphy vs. Corbin was boring though. This Corbin vs. Mysterio Family feud is just as dull and bad as the Rollins vs. Mysterio Family feud was. |
Guess Reigns is now WWE's version of Thanos going by that gold glove or gauntlet he's wearing on one of his hands and trying to erase Otis from existence with that vicious beatdown.
|
Otis & Kevin Owens vs. Jey Uso & Reigns was pretty good.
 at Reigns beating up Uso after both of them had just finished beating up Owens with chairs. This week's episode felt average overall. Had a few good things but also a lot of boring and dull stuff as well. Everything outside of the opening segment, 6-man tag match, and main event was mostly bad. |
What a dumb Smackdown!
No added special effects No special theme No legend debut No World Title Change No cross promotion partnership STILL WILL KILL AEW IN THE RATINGS!!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: |

ThunderDome's new home of Tropicana Field already off to a weak start since that opening contract segment had a bunch of echoing happening whenever Sasha and Adam Pearce spoke.
|
WWE really has an aversion with starting a show with actual wrestling since they somehow managed to cram 3 talkie segments within the first 15 minutes of tonight's show.
Didn't even need a lengthy Ziggy promo right after a Street Profits promo but WWE did it just so they wouldn't have any wrestling happen during the first 15 minutes. :| at Montez Ford vs. Ziggy match being randomly interrupted via Street Profits cups suddenly pouring into the ring from the sky. That might have been the oddest setup ever for a commercial break by WWE. |
 at that Sami Zayn shirt by Big E and Apollo Crews.
Sort of hope WWE actually sells that shirt afterwards since its something I'd consider buying as a goofy shirt to own. |
:| 2 matches so far on tonight's show and both end via lame shenanigans although at least in the Sami vs. Big E match it sort of fit with Sami's weasel style heel character even if it did deflate a decent quality match.
|
Reigns and Owens segment's been the best thing on tonight's show so far.
|
Viewership for next week's show is going to be interesting since WWE just flashed a graphic revealing that its going to be on FS1.
Guess the PAC-12 decided on next Friday for their college football title game instead of Saturday. Also the women's tag match that went on during the same time was mostly a snore. |
Very interested in this Chad Gable and Otis tag team after that training montage and Gable now acting like Simon Dean back in the day with his Alpha training system.
|
 at this new entrance theme for Carmella. Doesn't really mesh with her new character.
Everything about her new theme and entrance was more goofy than WWE likely expected. |
:| at Sasha getting DQed in her match against Carmella.
That SD Women's title match was pretty good until the dumb shenanigans dragged it down at the end. Also was arguably Carmella's best match since her title match against Charlotte a couple years ago. This week's episode was fine overall despite the first hour being mostly skippable and the main event ending in such a big dud. Everything from the Owens & Reigns stuff at the top of the hour till the end of the women's title match was enjoyable to watch. |

They managed to fix the echo issue during the show but the show audio was still a bit of a mess because of their abysmal handling of fake crowd audio with these ThunderDome shows. Reached its peak in worseness during the Women's title match.

 WWE really is selling Zayn's joke shirt gag from Big E and Apollo. $28 for it feels a bit too pricey and a ripoff though. |
If they had a AEW like fanbase that shirt would be hot.

This might be the first time ever an opening WWE talkie segment got the two segment and commercial break treatment.
Also might be one of the longest opening segments in SD history. |
Going to assume WWE couldn't find a high profile or more notable actor to do the Slammys and Tag title predictions split-screen thingy since I had no clue who Clark Duke was until I looked him up.
|
 at Street Profits having to cheat to keep their tag belts.
Sure it was payback for Roode trying to do the same right before but still found the whole thing funny and WWE's likely lazy way of setting up another match at TLC when they could have just not done this match today and saved it for TLC instead. Tag title match was pretty good though. at Charles Robinson snapping at Roode & Ziggy post-match. Guess refs now have the power to suspend wrestlers going by the tirade OUTTA NOWHERE by Robinson. |
Yikes at Liv Morgan almost getting a busted nose from that botched toss by Tamina.
Landed awkwardly face first onto the mat. |
 at the timing botch for Carmella's entrance. Either someone was slow pushing the button or the big white screen in front of her got stuck for a moment before dropping down.
|
Otis feels a lot more sterile in the ring now that Vince wants him to wrestle as just a typical WWE style big man. Wanting him to wrestle safer for a man of his size is one thing but didn't need to also take away all of the energetic vibe he had in the ring.
Didn't even get to do his caterpillar taunt since Gable blocked it from happening. Show's almost over and right now the most entertaining thing that happened was Charles Robinson snapping and going off on a random tirade. |
 at the Sami Awards show.
It was pretty dumb overall but also funny as well. Only real complaint was WWE ruining the big swerve or twist at the end by showing Big E rigging the last award before Sami's show happened. |
Belair vs. Bayley was pretty good.
The stuff afterwards with the beatdown of Owens by Reigns and Uso and another promo by Owens at the end was pretty much overkill since that was like the 5th segment between them tonight. This week's show was mostly average at best but probably the dullest since Reigns big return. As a regular show, it wasn't that bad but not that interesting either. As a go-home show for TLC, it was pretty boring. |
Once again no xrod to shove down how "great" everything is for a 2 week/1page thread.

Start of the show got pre-empeted because of FOX's post-NFL show stuff. Probably going to do a number on that big NFL lead-in expected for the Blue Brand tonight.
|
That top rope Fisherman Buster by Owens could have easily gone horribly wrong for Reigns. For a brief moment, it looked like Reigns was going to land right on his head.
|
NFL Twitter certainly not roasting WWE the way NBA fans did to AEW the other night.
|
They shoulda kept Rich Swann
|
Cage match was great although the whole purpose of doing a cage match pretty much has become useless for face wrestlers in WWE in recent times because WWE almost always books interference in them.
Same for them no longer being feud enders for the most part these days. |
Still can't believe WWE blew what should have been the big payoff to the Lana vs. Nia storyline feud on Charlotte instead.
Why bother getting invested or follow any notable feud on the main roster, especially RAW, if WWE creative just blows it most of the time. |
I agree. Let's see what time AEW comes on.
|
That pre-match women's promo segment was pretty terrible.
That whole segment was like a Teddy Long "tag match playa" setup routine without any of the charm or entertainment attached to it. |
If AEW dont start properly oiling Ricky Starks before his matches, they're gonna lose him.
|
 at whatever the hell was supposed to be that spot with Sasha and Reginald on the outside.
Women's tag title match was somewhat dull overall. Like maybe a couple good minutes of stuff at most and the rest just sluggish action. |
Bryan vs. Uso was mostly good despite dragging on too long.
Outside of Reigns vs. Owens, this week's episode has felt like a big drag in terms of pacing and flow. Even including Reigns vs. Owens, nothing really important has happened so far. |
Guess WWE shipped a few RAW guys over for SD's taping earlier this week since they are among the lumberjacks for this IC title match.
|
That might have been one of the flattest ever random brawls in a lumberjack match in WWE history.
|
:y: Big E being the new IC champ.
Lumberjack match itself was decent. This week's show was average at best. Big E winning the IC belt and the Universal title cage match were the only really interesting stuff on tonight's show. Everything else just dragged in pacing or was very skippable. Michael Cole being void of any real emotion on commentary tonight didn't help, especially with Big E's title winning moment. For as divisive Mauro Ranallo was in commentary, he knew exactly how to make shows feel more energetic and big moments feel very special. |
Smackdown was bookended really well, but outside of the open and close, the middle was very forgettable.
|
I thought this was a great episode of smackdown for once
|
I just watched the Big E vs Sami Zayne match. I thought it was one of the best things i've seen in WWE in a while. Great match. Great win for Big E. Great celebration. I didnt even notice there wasnt a crowd. Great way for WWE to close out 2020.
|
so no one watched smackdown last night, i watched the blow out sugar bowl myself, and dvr'ed smackdown.
|
Exactly.
|
Sped through it this morning. Great show if you enjoy impromptu tag matches with makeshift teams. Think Teddy Long was booking the show.
|
guess i will watch it live tonight
|
heel roman is gold
|
ok well that was a wild ending
|
Did Shinsuke turn face?
|
That man can sell a Superkick like no one's business.
|
so we have oldberg on raw and adam on smackdown going for the belts at the rumble.
|
Good job nobody buys the Rumble for the title matches.
|
How fucking weak is it when you have to have whatever Adam Pearce (sp) is against your champion? C'mon man.
|
From what I read the angle is basically that Heyman pulled strings to force Pearce into the gauntlet, and then Roman/Jey ensured he’d win so now he has an easy match at the Rumble.
Can’t imagine they’re gonna randomly make a 42 year old Adam Pearce who hasn’t wrestled in 6 years actually look like any sort of a threat. |
doesn't make it any better.
jey turn (not) outta nowhere. HOW GREAT WOULD IT BE IF PEARCE WON AND THEN WE HAVE GOLDBERG V PEARCE!!!11!ONE cant wait |
I'm gonna fogive the mic problems even though I shouldnt. This isnt a live crowd. Those things should be checked and double checked. However, this was fantastic. And I cant help but think how great it would have played in front of a live crowd. None the less, it was great. I really enjoyed it.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gVcBGeZTrlg" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
What is it? Not available in my country.
|
Did they switch Nakamura back to his face theme? The one they changed up to stop the crowd singing along when he turned heel? For some reason I can’t imagine that would have been a problem at the moment.
|
Bryan/Cesaro was great. Probably the best match on TV this week. Bryan losing seems weird if they’re lining him up with Reigns. They kept pushing how “he’d never won the Rumble”, are they putting him on a bit of a losing streak before a big win to throw us off, or do they not understand how to build momentum?
|
Quote:
I havent watched the previous build up, but I thought it was very entertaining none the less. My thoughts my change depending on the ratings it gets ( :shifty: ) |
Just tuned in. Came in right at the beginning of the Heyman/Roman segment. Where has this soft spoken, measured, handsome bad ass been the last 5 years? My god he's a fucking star right now. Might even buy me a shirt or 3.
|
The new IC title isn't cute
|

Sonya Deville is hot. She looks like my ex wife.

I read that someone, Big E i think, said it's expected Roman will get a part timer to work with him at Mania. Please let it be John Cena. |
Heel Bailey is way more entertaining than vanilla baby face Bailey
|
Bianca Blair is a unit
|
Lmao this segment sounded like it was gonna be cringe but it was actually fun.
Good fucking god this camera work with super cuts is jarring. |
Dominic Mysterio needs to hit the weights. I liked his music I think.
|
It was obvious they were gonna have Reigns come in for Heyman. He needs new music. Keep the theme, just have a different tempo and vibe.
|
Kevin Owens is destroying Roman Reigns. What a great ending segment. Pop up powerbomb>Owens stunner
|
I'm a week behind, but I'm really enjoying Billie Kay as the third Riott Squad member lol
|
Think there was far more I liked this week than didn’t.
I could do without the opening talkie segment lasting 15 minutes but the content was good. Love the relationship between Roman and Heyman. And giving us Roman v Adam Page feels like reacting to the fan feedback. Maybe not though as it obviously follows on from last weeks show. Liking that they’ve put a little spotlight on Cesaro. The match with Ziggler was pretty good even if it was heel/heel, I just can’t care about Ziggler though. The Sami Zayn protest was good. The dynamic between Big E and Crews is interesting. Billie Kay is a great character, wasn’t the point of splitting The IIconics to push Peyton? Reginald the sommelier is gonna be the breakout star of 2021. Only thing I found meh was Corbin, so not interested in him or him redoing want Seth Rollins spent most of 2020 doing. Put Rey and Dominick together as a tag team and get them involved in the thin tag division. Good show. |
I'm glad they're seemingly starting to feature Crews. He was a guy who I thought was called up way too early from nxt. Big E v Sami v Crews for the IC belt at Mania seems like a good idea. I also love Sammy and his cosplay Che Guevara outfit.
I only caught the last hour plus but it was good. I liked the entire end segment even tho it was obvious. It made sense and didn't beat around the bush. If SmackDown is going to be this consistently good I'm gonna keep tuning in. This week felt like the go home show, and until I read the rumble isn't till next week, I honestly thought it was. |
aj and db are gold give them a match tonight.
|
well that roman interview sucked.
|
guess shinsiski is a full blown face now
|
stroman is in the house
|
what will roman do tonight
