Some good episodes of "Barry" this season... whole season wasn't the best, but a couple of "classic" eps! Finale was very good and the motorcycle one...

weather vane 06-13-2022 02:32 AM

Just finished the finale. Very different season. I liked it.

teamXtremist 06-17-2022 01:19 AM

5 episodes into severance, and this Apple+ series is excellent. Anyone else seen it?

Lock Jaw 06-18-2022 12:58 AM

Have had a bunch of episodes of "The Goldbergs" on my DVR for awhile.... watched a couple... suuuuuuper awkward with Jeff Garlin being removed from the show... episode about the daughter's wedding and her dad reduced to an uncanny valley cameo made of old footage/sound bites and body double cut off by awkward framing and camera angles.....

Funny tbh... Got better as it went on. Wasn't sure about season 1. Feel like all of the writing was every character being like "Listen up, chucklefuck" or saying "Fuckistan" or "Whatever you say, Fuckface McFuck" and stuff... Really 2010 era writing... Was like "damn..."

But way funnier as it went on and stopped most of that type of stuff... up to season 4 now

Really enjoyed "Veep"... finished watching it all and feel bad now that I'm done

Became more absurd after the first season or two, which I like... funny @poopfromweiner dude

Ran out of great shows to watch so I started “Police Squad!” again.
I fell asleep recently when I tried to watch it for the first time in decades so I’m giving it another crack while I’m awake.

The sight gags are always good but the wordplay kills me.

“Cigarette?”
“Yes, I know.”

I hope it’s still better than The Naked Gun, those movies leant heavily into the slapstick and the ratio was a bit off between that and the jokes. As far as I remember there are more gag routines in this.

Seanny One Ball 06-27-2022 01:32 PM

I started “Barry” too. I saw the first two episodes. Episode two made me laugh for ages when the guy files Stephen Root’s teeth. I was cracking up at that, horrific but hilarious.

Seanny One Ball 06-27-2022 01:39 PM

I forgot about the bit at the credits where they “freeze frame” but really they just stay still in a goofy pose.
It’s the simple things like that which make it a classic.

Didn’t even get through episode 1 or The Orville though.

“The Man Who Fell To Earth” started out much better than the film but the longer it has gone on the more insufferably familiar to the film it has become.
It’s the same huge potential wasted in slightly different ways but this time it’s worse because there was actual quality in this one. I understand the story is about humanity corrupting Newton, but now they’re just rubbing it in.

Finished off Lost in Space in Netflix. Good stuff. Wish it went longer.

Moving on to The Old Man over on FX. Start binge watching that On Demand.

Evil Vito 07-08-2022 12:13 PM

Severance was a total mindfuck and I loved it.

rez 07-08-2022 09:43 PM

Big Brother. Pretty realistic cast so far

rez 07-08-2022 09:44 PM

Hate to see Terrance leave, tho..

rez 07-08-2022 09:46 PM

Wish they'd stop with the token old person. I'd love to see am alliance of older peeps take the young bloods out

Hmmm, Adam Scott in a critically acclaimed science fiction series.
I’ll give it a go.

South Park Streaming Wars Part II

Oh, Randy.

Seanny One Ball 07-15-2022 04:24 AM

South Park has mostly sucked for the last few shows.

Started getting into What We Do in the Shadows in the past few weeks. Pretty great.

Yeah. They're pretty much still doing it because co.edy central will keep throwing millions at them just for the ad revenue the show generates.

I have to say it’s actually better than the film.
I’ve refused to say that until now but it really is.

#1-norm-fan 07-18-2022 11:51 AM

I haven’t seen the movie yet.

I watched the episode where The Baron wakes up and wants to have a night on the town yesterday and was laughing so hard I got a headache.

Fignuts 07-18-2022 01:50 PM

Movie is great. You should try and watch it before you get to the end of the first season.

But I agree the show has surpassed it at this point.

Seanny One Ball 07-18-2022 03:09 PM

It’s the funniest comedy out right now. There’s nothing that has that high a laugh count.
The cameos are always fantastic too. It just keeps getting better, every season is top drawer.

It should hopefully be back on soon actually.

#1-norm-fan 07-18-2022 03:43 PM

Season 4 just started last week.

It was alright. (First 2 episodes)

Seanny One Ball 07-19-2022 11:56 AM

This happened the last time… they need to start advertising that shit

ClockShot 07-22-2022 07:27 PM

Primal season 2 is up and running.

Who knew a caveman screaming, a dinosaur roaring, and great music would make for an awesome show.

Eh, it was cool to see Randy go back to being a "competent" person and geologist.

The cryptocurrency celebrity parts were kinda lame, tho.

ClockShot 07-25-2022 05:30 PM

Watched the season finale of The Old Man.

I kinda saw the twist coming. But I wish it went just one more episode to tie a couple things up. 7 is just an odd number of episodes for a season.

Seanny One Ball 07-27-2022 04:33 PM

Episode four of WWDITS is one of the best ever.
Joyously daft with the Vampire night market and the familiar fighting championship.
That’s the best of the new season but episode 3 was pretty great. Little Colin Robinson is phenomenal. He’s already ten times better than Groot or Grogu.

Lock Jaw 07-28-2022 11:16 PM

Watched the first episode of Paper Girls on Amazon Prime.... maybe the most faithful comic book adaptation I have seen... characters literally look exactly like their comic counterparts

Lock Jaw 07-28-2022 11:59 PM

Second episode starting to diverge from the comic a bit, but the characters still feel like the characters

Lock Jaw 07-31-2022 12:37 AM

Finished the season of Paper Girls (8 episodes). Really enjoyed it... diverged from the comic a lot, but still felt genuine to the spirit and to the characters....

Hope it gets a season 2... "fear the worst" for it because it is on Amazon Prime and was all released at once...

Episode 4 was pretty good but I’m not feeling the season so far. The nightclub thing has been too “cute” for my taste. Little Colin Robinson is a highlight though.

Seanny One Ball 08-03-2022 11:41 AM

It’s still funnier than anything else on right now

XL 08-03-2022 02:52 PM

Severance

Overall, I think I’d put Always Sunny above it but this has quickly become a possible top 5 all-time sitcom for me.

New episode last night was funny. Starting to turn around on the season.

Seanny One Ball 08-03-2022 06:23 PM

Always Sunny is very funny every now and then but it’s hit and miss overall.
I liked it a lot when I got to the later seasons but the last couple were mediocre. I need a much higher standard of performance if the material is going to be so predictable and weak.

2.5/4

rez 08-04-2022 10:11 PM

Mike Judge's Beavis & Butt-Head is fire (literally) so far.
