Just watched His Dark Materials. I like it. Didnt realize it was a reboot of The Golden Compass when I started but Ibalways thought they should have kept that series going so this is good.

Seanny One Ball 02-06-2021 11:33 AM

It's not a reboot of "The Golden Compass".
"The Golden Compass" is an unfaithful adaptation of one book in the trilogy known as "His Dark Materials".

Seanny One Ball 02-06-2021 11:34 AM

Watch "Resident Alien" it is full of Alan Tudyk being weird.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-06-2021 11:51 AM

I'm coming to the end of my re-watch of The Shield; into the final few episodes and it is all coming apart for Vic and Shane. It was such a great show.

I am on to the final episode of season 5 The Expanse; it has been a much stronger showing this time round than season 4. I liked season 4, but it was smaller in scale and more interested in setting up the pieces for the current season rather than anything else.

I was thinking of pulling out my Deadwood boxsets and re-watching them before viewing the "film" that came out a couple of years ago.

Walker reboot although it's nowhere near what i expected. The Masked Dancer, spin-off of The real champion; Masked Singer. Also shows like Big Bang Theory. Family Matters on TV1 saved by the bell on E and IFC and other shows i can't remember.

Remember when she tried to hug Jerry Seinfeld and he laughed in her face and said no?
That was very satisfying for me.

GD 02-07-2021 02:56 PM

He did not laugh in her face. He was unaware of who she was and did not want his boundaries to be violated like that :o

Seanny One Ball 02-07-2021 06:06 PM

Don't get so upset about it

Supreme Olajuwon 02-11-2021 09:06 PM

We’re now watching the Good Place and it’s pretty good! But I was told it was pretty great. But it’s not bad! And it might get better! Still in season 1 and definitely planning to watch more.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-11-2021 09:08 PM

Managing expectations is always important

Seanny One Ball 02-11-2021 11:36 PM

I watched it a bit but it had hallmarks of a show that regresses rather than progresses.
I can't sign up for seasons of dithering around.

Please update us after you're done watching the final episode <3

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-12-2021 07:57 AM

Finished season 5 of The Expanse; enjoyed it as always, and I look forward to the final season at the end of this year/start of 2022.

I'm three episodes into the first season of The Outpost; it is naff, but I will continue to watch it because the lead woman is so ridiculously attractive. I have also watched the first two episodes of The Night Manager; it seems pretty decent for a BBC drama.

I need to get back into watching it. I forget how many seasons I'm in to it.

I found the charm of the novelty/whimsy kinda wore off for me after season 1. :-\

ClockShot 02-16-2021 12:31 PM

Season 1 of The Watch wrapped up on BBC America. Not bad. Left things on a cliffhanger.

Think I'm going to jump into Netflix and start watching Lupin.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-20-2021 10:42 AM

Finished season 1 of the Good Place. The spoiler was PrettyCool. Also the jokes are very funny. But something feels off about it. I dunno.

That laugh was so maniacal...I fucking loved it.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-21-2021 04:39 PM

I've finished The Night Manager. I don't tend to like BBC dramas, but it was a solid "espionage" series. Tom Hiddleston's easy charm carries the series, along with good performances by Hugh Laurie and Olivia Coleman.

I have also finished the first season of The Outpost and I have started the second one. If you like fantasy-based programmes, I think you will like it; plus, the lead woman is a smokeshow. It feels a bit naff at first, but stick with it whilst it finds its footing.

I recently finished season 5 of my re-watch of Scrubs. I think this was the first season where there was a definite drop in quality, and a general sense of fatigue in the show. Perhaps it rebounds in season 6, but it is sometime since I watched that season. I'll probably save seasons 6-8 (season 9 can fuck off) for my 14-day self-isolation at the end of March, when I relocate for my new job.

Seanny One Ball 02-21-2021 05:20 PM

You are a boring old duffer

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-22-2021 05:21 AM

Unashamedly so.

OssMan 02-22-2021 09:51 AM

Going through Malcolm in the Middle... really fucking funny

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-22-2021 09:58 AM

A TV channel over here in the UK has been reshowing Malcolm in the Middle; I'd forgotten how good it was, particularly the early seasons.

Seanny One Ball 02-22-2021 11:46 AM

Frankie Muniz doesn't remember any of it, he runs an olive oil store now.

mitchables 02-22-2021 07:45 PM

i was really reluctant to get another streaming service but a friend of mine kept going on about ted lasso so i took the plunge and i gotta say, it was worth. great show, binged the heck out of it

so while i was at it i also churned through mythic quest, which was also excellent, and am currently making my way through central park, which is a good time but for sure more niche in appeal than the other shows. but i like me a good musical comedy so i am on board

otherwise, wandavision is the weekly appointment atm. been catching up on barry also, as i fell behind a bit

all of these shows are Very GoodTM

Seanny One Ball 02-22-2021 08:25 PM

Ted Lasso is a lovely sitcom that warms my heart.
Well done Mitch, you have gone up in my estimations.

Only good people love Ted Lasso.

mitchables 02-22-2021 10:38 PM

seanny it's so pure and wholesome, and i loved it so much more than i was expecting to. absolutely delightful "program", as i am not sure whether they still say in the UK

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-28-2021 05:41 AM

I'm half-way through the first season of Raised by Wolves; a superior sci-fi series. Check it out. The only person I recognize in it is the chap who played Ragnar Lodbrok in Vikings.

Seanny One Ball 02-28-2021 08:21 AM

It sounded good but I never got round to looking for it.
May hunt later on.

Seanny One Ball 03-02-2021 07:17 PM

Deep into "The Shield" now.
Already into season 2 and the Arab hatred is palpable.

Seanny One Ball 03-02-2021 07:40 PM

There is only one badly played character in this show and it's Vic's wife.
Her acting is atrocious. Genuinely bad.

Seanny One Ball 03-02-2021 08:27 PM

Vic walking into a hospital waiting room with his jacket zipped up to cover his bullet in the guts from his children after not seeing them for months...that is fucking high level.
You can't fuck with Vic.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-03-2021 04:06 AM

You're welcome.

Seanny One Ball 03-03-2021 04:12 AM

It is a very well paced show. The dialogue is hokey as shit and the acting can be a bit gamey but overall it hits the emotional spots so perfectly that you have to give it credit.

The dialogue is so on the nose that it becomes an exercise at times but it is good.

Seth82 03-03-2021 10:30 AM

am nearly finished watching the 1990s version of Pride and Prejudice. It recently reaired on PBS awhile back.

this is the one with Colin Firth.

pretty great miniseries so far. 8/10.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-03-2021 01:00 PM

I've finished the first season of Raised by Wolves. If you like sci-fi with a trippy edge to it, you'll like it a lot.

I'm going to have to go back to watching the second season of The Outpost, which is going to feel rather inadequate in comparison.

Seanny One Ball 03-03-2021 06:59 PM

Hmmmm...

Turns out the one bad actor in The Shield is married to the show's fucking creator.
What an arsehole, she is awful.

I think I may have suggested this to you before, but just in case I haven't, I think you'd like the 1980s TV adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited, with Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews. I watch that series once a year; I'm about due to watch it again.
